Gripes. Well the AF can take a little getting user to. Of the 4 settings, Single area AF, Dynamic AF with Focus tracking and Lock On, Closest Subject priority Dynamic AF and Group Dynamic AF, I found that the single area was the easiest to get accustomed to quickly. In this case, a single square illuminates in the centre of the viewfinder and that's where the camera focuses. When I experimented with the others I found the camera telling me where it was going to focus,... Read more

The Nikon F6 is a fitting tribute to 35mm as the great era of analogue photography draws to a close. Continuing Nikons tradition of unveiling a new 35mm flagship every eight years, the F6 was announced in October 2004. Its great handling, fast 11-area auto focus, extremely accurate metering and advanced flash photography demonstrate, once again, Nikons devotion to professional photography. Read more
Great camera but I miss the removal of the ‘pentaprism’ to change focusing screens. I’ve already scratched the mirror because of the mechanism and fiddly handling of the tweezers with poor instructions on how to do it properly. Read more
In fairness, there aren't that many new film cameras to review at the moment and those that have been, like the Nikon F6 and the Zeiss Ikon have been covered in AP fairly quickly. That said, there have been new films and much updated versions of several old films lately, like Kodak Portra, which it would be useful to see properly reviewed. After all, one of the nice things a...

Not Kodak film but specifically Kodak Gold, I remember the "me and my camera" stint in AP about the Nikon F6 where the reviewer could only get Kodak Gold 100 (or something like that) It looked terrible and I think it made the camera and film in general look really bad. OTOH I freaking love Portra. -------------------- Al [Insert clever comment here]

It is not just about Pixels but also lenses. If you think 35mm film was the same all the world over it was just the Lenses and camera durability that was price reletive. A £10 camera used the same film as a Nikon F6 or Fm10. a lot of press work is done at less than 6mps as all print is done at 72dpi.

...bay, dont you wont get much for it and people wont appreciate just how powerful the EOS 3 is........ they think digital SLRs are better but they are not. Firms try now to promote digital as being better than 35mm as the cameras like the EOS 3, EOS 1V and Nikon F6 where the best 35mm film cameras ever made, they couldnt make better film cameras...... The new EOS 1DS III comes close but the EOS 3 can still beat it in most places and next to film which is = 40 mega pixels, 12 mega pixels of the EOS 1DS III still cant...

...n which a post said that any of the systems are as capable as we are (which discussed weddings and Pete's concerns with noise - church photographers also used sound boxes in the past by the way Pete otherwise your choices are Leica, P&S as mentioned or a Nikon F6) , a sticky post of blinding wisdom if ever there was one. Actually my first camera was a Pentax ME-F but that's a long time ago now. Capturing my daughter growing up pulled me into photography and in the past six years I grew a Nikon collection all based...
