Excerpt: MY SOUTHWEST FACING APARTMENT HEATS UP LIKE AN OVEN IN THE AFTERNOONS. I AM GLAD I GOT THE 12000 BTU UNIT BECAUSE IT REALLY DOES THE JOB I NEED. BEFORE THE EDGESTAR, I HAD TO FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO BE TILL ABOUT 9 OR 10 PM.
Excerpt: They suggested a hose I found I didn't need. There was a system of panels and screws I found cumbersome. Overall, though, I've been quite pleased with the Edgestar portable Air Conditioner. It was delivered right to my door and it was easy to unpack and assemble.
Excerpt: This AC unit is very big, very heavy and very loud (when compressor is running). It comes with a 5 inch plastic hose for venting exhaust heat out, and that hose is a very thin walled plastic which gets so hot, the heat radiates out from the hose and into the room that it trying to be cooled.
Pros: It does not require frequent water drainage.
Cons: Loud, heavy, poor cooling, hot exhaust issues
The Edgestar Portable Air Conditioner Does its Job

Excerpt: Living in an apartment without a good window for an air conditioner, I wondered how we would handle the heat in the middle of the summer. My sister let us borrow this air conditioner, and we soon bought one for our home.
It's a little loud and in the way but I'm so comfy I don't care

Excerpt: This machine does a great job cooling a bedroom that has always been uncomfortably warm. The unit does take up some room, both from the unit itself and the room needed for the hose to condense moisture out the window.
Excerpt: This was purchased at the height of the northwest heatwave. Paid an arm and a leg and just when we thought reprieve had arrived, it turned out to be a week of high drama with Edgestar customer service and their sister company Compactappliance.
Pros: Great built-in autoleak function.
Cons: The warm air wasn't quite warm enough for the winter.
