  3. Denon AVR-1909 7.1 A/V Receiver

    23 August 2009

Introduction With over a five thousand dollar range from the entry level AVR-588 to the top of the line AVR-5308CI, Denon offers a receiver to fill just about every budget and need. While not necessarily inexpensive at $649, the Denon AVR-1909 can be considered a deal in comparison to the $5500price tag of their top offering. Since the AVR-1909 falls roughly in the middle of Denon’s 23 receiver lineup, my initial impression is that this receiver will offer a lot a... Read more

My first Denon as well as my first purchase from J&R. I made my order on the phone and it was easy and the person I talked to was incredibly friendly. The system is amazing, lots of power, beautiful design, and enough inputs to satisty analog, digital and HDMI connections. I currently have my xbox360, ps3 and dvr input through hdmi, with the output to the tv. Works like a charm with beautiful sound and quality. I gave it a con for two reasons that may turn a few people... Read more

This receiver is a must for people living in apartments or condos with poor soundproofing.  The auto volume control opens up a new listening experience. All in all a real pleasure after my experience with yamahas and harmans which were excellant recievers but did not have auto volume control or flexible bass crossovers in the case of yamaha. This is the list of equipment I used to make my system. Acoustic Audio HD515 In Wall Ceiling 5.1 Home Theater Stereo Speakers. Dayton SA70 70W Subwoofer Amplifier. DLO Home Deluxe Ipod Dock. (Not that happy with it, it has some software hangups). Logiteck 1100 remote control. (See my report on this remote) Any HD TV with HDMI input. Any DVD/CD player with a HDMI output. Use any 12awg or 14awg wire to connect the speakers. The setup despite the reviews I have read is a... Read more
